Samsung, Texas Instruments, and Amkor have finalized their CHIPS and Science Act funding agreements with the US Department of Commerce. Announced by the department in late December 2024, Samsung will receive $4.745 billion in direct funding, while Texas Instruments and Amkor will receive $1.61bn and $407 million respectively.
Samsung is using the $4.745 billion in funding to support three fabs in Taylor and the expansion of the company's Austin facility.
Samsung Electronics received direct funding of up to $4.745 billion from the CHIPS Act. The award follows the original preliminary funding announced in April of 2024. The funding will support Samsung’s reported $37 billion in the coming years to build up its semiconductor manufacturing presence in Tyler, Texas.
