The math doesn't add up for Trump and the Republicans unless they take hundreds of billions of dollars out of Medicare or Medicaid.

Reps. Mike Thompson and Jared Huffman made a joint appearance Friday in Santa Rosa to issue dire warnings about the impact of a Republican plan to cut over the next decade at least $880 billion from programs that are likely to include Medicaid and Medicare to help pay for some $4.5 trillion in tax cuts.

Some in the GOP, including the president, oppose slashing Medicaid. But with cuts to Social Security and Medicare already ruled out, some argue that cuts to Medicaid may be necessary, given the spending cuts and tax cuts in the budget proposal passed by the House last week.
