Rams general manager Les Snead talks about quarterback Matthew Stafford's decision to stay in Los Angeles, wide receiver Cooper Kupp's possible departure, players that could be re-signed in free agency,
Rams General Manager Les Snead recently called the team's agreement on a revised contract that will keep quarterback Matthew Stafford on the team in 2025 "a renewal of vows" and that description drew a chuckle from Stafford when he heard it on Wednesday night.
Matthew Stafford was never leaving the Rams despite his dalliance with the Raiders and Giants. The Rams gave the quarterback’s agent, Jimmy Sexton, permission to speak to other teams, but in the end, Stafford agreed to return on an adjusted contract.
And at some point, the Rams know they’ll have to move on and replace the QB who helped them win Super Bowl LVI. To that end, General Manager Les Snead said on Wednesday that the Rams would like to bring in a young quarterback as soon as possible to set up a succession plan.
The future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades—or maybe just a headset,” quipped Rams GM Les Snead this week, channeling his inner ’80s optimism (and a cheeky nod to Timbuk3’s one-hit wonder) during a presser that felt more like a blockbuster trailer.
