A survey of iPhone and Samsung Galaxy users has revealed that most don’t care about AI whatsoever, despite both companies putting AI at the core of their mobile software and marketing throughout the past year.

Samsung calls the A-series variant of its generative AI “Awesome Intelligence.” It’s exclusive to the Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G, and it brings pretty standard generative AI tools. Many of the same features are included on the mainline S25s. The features include:

Galaxy AI is a collection of AI tools on Samsung Galaxy devices powered by Google's Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 AI models and Samsung's own Gauss generative AI model. Directly comparing Galaxy AI to Gemini is impossible, as most Galaxy AI features are essentially Gemini features with a Galaxy coat of paint.

The latest changes to Samsung's affordable Galaxy A26 and A36 phones include tougher builds, Galaxy AI, and more software support, making them even better bargains. I take a first look at the new lineup.

To enable Galaxy AI on-device processing, open Settings on your Galaxy phone. Next, scroll down until you find Galaxy AI. At the bottom, you'll see a toggle to Process data only on device. Switch that on, and the following Galaxy AI features will swap over to local processing only:
