STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Police made the gruesome discovery of a man’s torso floating off Manhattan near Governors Island in the East River on Wednesday. According to the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information, the NYPD Harbor Unit spotted a suitcase containing the remains around 5:30 p.m.

The human remains found stuffed in a suitcase floating off Manhattan in the East River consisted of a man’s headless dismembered torso, police said Thursday. Members of the NYPD Harbor Unit recovered the case and brought it to Pier 16 on South St. near John St. in the Financial District. The torso of an adult man was inside with no head or limbs.
