Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy, who drew national attention for his hunt for the drones spotted in the skies over New Jersey in the late fall, said after U.S. Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J.'s press conference Dec. 14 in Seaside Heights about the unmanned aerial vehicles, they disappeared.

The Pentagon had said that the aircraft are not U.S. military drones, and officials have rebuked claims that the drones spotted are a part of a nefarious plot by foreign agents. Trump had insisted the government knew more than they were saying. Dozens of witnesses reported seeing the drones in New Jersey beginning back in November.
